Curt Smith’s first wife was Lynda “Lynne” Altman, whom he married in 1982. They divorced in 1988, and he then began a relationship with marketing executive Frances Pennington. They married in 1996 and now live in Los Angeles with their two daughters, Diva, and Wilder, born in 1999 and 2000.

Curt Smith was accompanied by 21-year old daughter Diva, the bassist who performed an acoustic rendition of the appropriately titled Mad World from their family home in Los Angeles in 2020. Joining her father, Diva – the older of two children with second wife Laura Pennington – revealed her own musical talents by accompanying him on acoustic guitar.
